The Liberal Democrats have had a major breakthrough in this week's elections in Scarborough and Whitby polling higher than Labour in both the County elections and the European elections. Local activists celebrated last night as they saw yet more evidence that the Lib Dems are the second biggest party in the constituency.

NICK CLEGG HAILS HISTORIC VICTORY FOR GURKHAS

The Liberal Democrats last week led a defeat for the Government in a vote on the rights of retired Gurkha soldiers to live in the UK. MPs voted to condemn the Government's guidelines that would have seen just 100 of the thousands of retired Gurkhas facing deportation being allowed to remain here.

Candidate speaks out on Pensions

The Parliamentary Candidate for the Liberal Democrats in Scarborough and Whitby spoke out on Wednesday about the unfairness in the British Pension system. Tania Exley-Moore was invited to speak at the Filey and Scarborough Older People's Forum, held at the Westborough Methodist Church.
