Cllr
Brian Simpson
I am a 39 year old single Dad of two, since moving to Eastfield over 10 years ago I have been involved with many community groups in the area.
I have been the Chairman of Eastfield Parish Council for the past four years and a Borough Councillor for Eastfield since 2002. In 2005 I was privileged to be elected as County Councillor for Eastfield & Osgodby, since then I have built up a very good working relationship with Osgodby Parish Council and made many friends in the village.
I have supported Osgodby Community Association in bringing the allotments project to life and before this I lead the group which saw the skateboard park being built in Eastfield.
Eastfield & Osgodby is a good area to live in with great potential, I will do all I can to see that full potential realised.

Bob Jackman
Bob Jackman is an experienced Lib Dem councillor having represented North Heaton on Newcastle upon Tyne City council.
He moved to Scarborough permanently in 2007 following on from both his own and his wife's retirement from full time employment. His parents were both York born and bred and North Yorkshire was the natural place for both him and his Yorkshire born wife to move to.
Bob trained as a teacher and taught in Yorkshire, Africa and the West Midlands. He worked as an independent consultant to the then DfES in Darlington as well as part time lecturing at further education colleges on Tyneside.
As a councillor he maintained his interest in education serving on the Education Commission set up by Newcastle Lib Dems when they took control of the council in 2004. He also served on the Adult Social Services and Health Scrutiny Committee taking special interest in the quality of Health Services offered within the local community. He took an active role in promoting Newcastle as a Fairtrade city and also chaired a number of council committees and represented Newcastle City Council on a number of external bodies.
He is currently a governor of three local Scarborough schools including Brompton & Sawdon Community School and Brompton Hall School.

Magnus Johnson
Dr Magnus Johnson (42) is a diving instructor, marine biologist and lecturer at the Scarborough Campus of the University of Hull. He moved to the area 7 years ago and lives in Hackness with his wife (Rowan Johnson - Vice-principal of Scarborough 6th Form) and two boys who attend the local primary school. Prior to coming to North Yorkshire he gained a BSc(Hons) in Biology at Plymouth University, a Masters in Marine and Fisheries Science at Aberdeen University and a PhD in Deep-sea biology from Leicester University and the Institute of Oceanography. He has worked as a marine biologist in places such as Jamaica, Seychelles, Indonesia, Egypt, Tobago and Belize. He has served as a governor at the Sixth Form College and Pindar Community College and is now a governor at Hackness Church of England Primary School. He also serves as an external examiner for Hull and Sheffield Colleges. After doing his time as Head of the Centre for Environmental and Marine Sciences for five years he stood down in order to have more time for research and his young family. His current interests include trying to find ways to help the fishing industry survive in rural communities and Antarctic ecology. In his spare time he tries to keep middle-age spread at bay by running and mountain biking and has recently developed an interest in growing his own vegetables.
Magnus is a member of the Liberal Democrats because he prefers common sense to political dogma and believes that people should have the opportunities to succeed whatever their background. However with that right comes responsibility and Magnus believes that the liberal party is the one that can best promote community and equality over greed and privilege. He is a big fan of Vince Cable - one of the most intelligent and inspiring politicians of our time.
Local issues that concern Magnus include the fishing industry, getting the most for the area out of the fact that Scarborough is a university town, the appalling state of public transport in rural areas, ensuring sustainability of the rural economy - balancing environmental and economic needs and making sure that our local schools are as excellent as they can be.
If you wish to contact Magnus then email him via our 'Keep in Touch' link on this website.

Rod Rodgers
Rod Rodgers - Ramshill & Weaponness
A Yorkshireman born and bred, Rod Rodgers has lived in Scarborough for the last 25years.
He is married to Lani and has a grown up son and a five (?six) year old daughter Sasha. He is a Governor of Springhead School. He is a Magistrate and has travelled widely in third world countries.
Rod has recently retired after 35 years in the Hotel industry, most recently as Chief Executive of the Grand Hotel Group UK and has time to devote himself to being a Councillor. He wants to stand up and be counted as someone who does something about the issues that affect every one not just complain about them.
Rod believes that the Liberal Democrats are the nearest thing to a common sense Party.
Rod begs everyone to use their vote and that the current 35% turnouts and below are just not on. He wants a 'big voice' not just a 'little voice' in Ramshill & Weaponness.

Chris Walker
I was born in Sheffield in 1946. One of my grandfathers drove tramcars, the other was a coal miner. Both my parents were teachers and I have two elder sisters, one also being a teacher the other a nurse.
Though born in Yorkshire the family moved to Lincolnshire where I was educated. After leaving school I was employed as a clerical officer for British Telecom before I took up a post as a fireman with the Leicester City Fire Brigade followed by a similar post with the Worcestershire Fire Brigade. After a number of years as a fireman I left the service and worked in a factory making diesel engines before I decided to qualify as a nurse caring for people with a learning difficulty. This was in 1982.
In 1983 I married my wife Lynn who was also a nurse and in 1994 we moved to Scarborough to live. Initially we had a guest house though as a nurse I still worked but mainly in nursing homes caring for people with Alzheimers.
My wife and myself still wanted to care for people with a learning difficulty so we stopped being a guest house and now have three people with s learning difficulty living with us.
My hobbies are walking, reading, meeting people and though I was a very keen player of cricket and rugby I now watch these games instead of playing. I enjoy adventure having helped to sail tall ships, spent time in the Brecon Beacons living off the land on a survival course, hot air ballooning, parascending and rock climbing.
I am also an advanced driver and as such I have an interest in road safety and because of my caring back ground I support the welfare of all people especially those with physical or mental problems.
